About Us Martin Roberts and Ray Page have been brewing award winning ale for 13 years. Formerly brewers at the Cheriton Brewhouse (Now no more) these two master brewers have struck out on their own to create new brews that show huge promise.
Martin & Ray with Dogs & Vessels During Brewery Construction Why Bowman Ales? Martin and Ray have been partners in many ventures, one of which produced charcoal and was called Bowman Charcoal. They also frequented The Hampshire Bowman in Dundridge. So Bowman Ales seemed like a natural progression, taking lessons and experiences of the past, into an optimistic and productive future. What Now? Ray and Martin hope to expand on their past brewing successes by producing a range of fine ales that are a credit to the quality of the ingredients used to brew them. They have always maintained that this is one industry where you get out what you put in. To this end, their malted barley is produced by the finest traditional maltster in Britain, if not the world. Their hops are always 'choicest', never lower grades, pellets or oils. The brewing yeast is a fine strain obtained from an award-winning brewery in Cornwall, with which they have had a long relationship. The water used in the brewing liquor comes from under the rolling Hampshire hills upon which the brewery sits. And... Ray and Martin would like to take this opportunity to say thank-you to all the people that have given their support over the past troubled months. They also feel that the only true way to say a proper thank-you to their myriad friends and helpers is to brew them a decent bloody pint to drink! |
